The Growing Patch

The Growing Patch Report Term 2 2021

On the last day of term 1 The Growing patch held its first produce and plant sale.

The Grade 4s who had been working so hard in the garden during the term 1 had grown, harvested a fabulous array of veggies and fruit.

They also had been learning about taking cuttings to grow more sustainably, so those plants were also on the produce stall.

The sale was a fantastic success with lots of our community coming along to support the stall.  We had sold out of all the produce within 15mins and thanks to the wonderful gold coin donations we raised a whopping $180.00

This money will be used to purchase some more equipment for the growing patch. Keep an eye out for the next produce sale hopefully towards the end of term 2.

This term we start with another two grades of your 4s Every week the two classes will have a gardening and a cooking lesson. The lessons connects the students with their environment, involves them in cultivating, harvesting and preparing the seasonal food they grow to eat.

The winter veggies are all in so hopefully we should start seeing some cabbages, cauliflower, peas, snow peas, broccoli, and kale to name but a few. We are all looking forward to seeing what we can cook with the produce this term.
