Homework Club

Melton Secondary College aims to build a culture of high expectations based on the College values of Success, Teamwork, Ambition, Respect and Responsibility. One way in which we go about achieving this goal is by implementing whole school structures and programs to increase student aspirations and engagement in learning, including Homework Club.

The purpose of Homework Club is to provide additional supported time at school for students to complete homework tasks and/or class work. Students may choose to attend Homework Club voluntarily, or participation may be encouraged by their classroom teacher. Either way, it’s a wonderful opportunity for students to access our school’s friendly and approachable tutors, who have been employed as part of the State Government’s Tutor Learning Initiative.

Homework Club occurs in the library on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday from 3.15pm-4.30pm, and Wednesdays from 2.30pm-4.00pm. To complement the junior school homework schedule, specialised support will be offered for each curriculum area on a different day of the week:

Monday- Maths    Tuesday- English     Wednesday- Science     Thursday-Humanities

However, students are still encouraged to come along with their homework tasks/class work on whichever day suits them, and they will always be provided with assistance from the tutors.

Week four of this term sees us begin a series of ‘Open Afternoons’, where homegroups are invited to attend Homework Club on a specific night, so they can meet the tutors, grab a healthy snack, take part in a couple of fun activities, and even enter a raffle for a chance to win a prize.

Students will be receiving an invitation prior to their homegroup’s Homework Club Open Afternoon experience. Please keep an eye out for this and encourage your child to attend.

Thank you for your support.
