Principal Report

Welcome to Term 2

I am delighted to report that we have all had a wonderful start to Term 2.  All students and staff returned refreshed and ready to work after a relaxing and enjoyable school holiday and Easter break.  Literacy and communication are a major component of our curriculum and the exciting holiday activities students participated in were a perfect motivator to stimulate oral and written story telling.  We greatly appreciate the time parents take to inform teachers of the activities their children are involved in as this enables us to prompt more meaningful communication with your child.

ANZAC Commemoration

Our ceremony last Friday afternoon to commemorate ANZAC Day ensured our students and staff acknowledged and remembered those members of the Australian Defence Force who served not only in World War I, but all current and former members who have loyally supported Australia to be the free and wonderful country we live in today.  We were most appreciative to have our State Member for Kew, The Honourable Tim Smith join us and share his reflection of the ANZAC story.  I was extremely proud of our student leaders who solemnly participated in the ceremony as well as all our students who demonstrated their respect for this significant occasion. A highlight was our SLC7 teacher Diana sharing her photos taken on her recent visit to the Australian War Memorial in Canberra.

Mothers' Day Stall

With appreciation to the parents who attended our meeting this week and through the magnificent generosity of our school community, our Mothers' Day stall has a wide variety of beautiful gifts to purchase.  All students are invited to bring up to $10 cash next Thursday 6 May to buy one or more gifts for the special people in their lives.

Mothers' Day Devonshire Afternoon Tea

Once again our Mothers’ Day Devonshire Afternoon Tea promises to be a very special occasion for our well deserving mums and/or special people who love and care for our students.  If possible I encourage you to make the time to attend as we would love for you to join us to celebrate this special event.  For catering purposes we would appreciate your RSVP by Monday, but if your circumstances change and you find you can attend closer to the date, please let Kim in reception know and we will reserve you a seat.

National Volunteer Week

National Volunteer Week is an annual celebration to acknowledge the generous contribution of our nation’s volunteers.  Across the country there are 6 million Australians who volunteer their time and here at Belmore we are very fortunate to receive much needed support from a large number of these very special people.  Following the challenges of 2020 the theme for NVW 2021 is Recognise. Reconnect. Reimagine. which acknowledges that it is time to:

  • RECOGNISE, celebrate and thank volunteers for the vital role they play in our lives.
  • RECONNECT to what is important by giving our time to help others and ourselves.
  • REIMAGINE how we better support volunteers and communities they help.

To thank our wonderful volunteers we will be holding a special morning tea on Monday 17th May.

Education Week

Education Week will be celebrated at Belmore School throughout the week commencing Monday 24th May with a range of activities and events.  This year’s theme is BUILDING CONNECTIONS which celebrates the connections between schools and local communities and strengthens bonds with families and carers.  Details will follow shortly.
