Middle School Report

Welcome back to on-site learning, it is so good to see you back in school and in your classes. We hope that you are pleased to be back in school and seeing your friends and teachers face to face. The commitment and enthusiasm evident during remote learning over the last few weeks was fantastic. So much has been achieved that should be celebrated as we reach the end of Semester One.
Year Level Coordinators enjoyed the many emails of support and gratitude that we received from students and their families as we transitioned to online learning once more. We know that there were many challenges associated with the unexpected change, and some disappointment with work experience and proactive programs days having to be cancelled. Having said this, Year 10 students returned to school eager and well-prepared for their Semester 2 classes.
Students in Year 9 returned to school to complete their end of semester tests and exams, and many of them had clearly used the additional time productively to ensure their performance in the tests was optimal. Tests can be a stressful time for students, especially as it often involves some disruptions to their usual timetables. All of the students deserve huge congratulations for ways in which they returned to school with a positive mindset.
On Wednesday 23 June, the year level assemblies were used to recognize the efforts and achievements of students over the course of the semester, with awards given for achievement, effort, attendance and modelling the school values. These final few weeks of term provide the perfect opportunity for students to reflect upon everything that has been learnt over the course of the year so far, celebrate the successes and establish learning goals for Semester Two. In Term 3, students will continue working on their careers program in preparation for Course Counselling Days. Setting clear learning goals is an important part of the subject selection process and preparation for 2022.
The Middle School Coordinators would like to wish all the students and their families a restful break over the two-week holidays. We look forward to seeing you all again in Term 3, rested and refreshed.
