Science of Environment and living in Year 9
Recently Wantirna College has become a Fighting Extinction School with Zoos Victoria. This is a very exciting recognition as it is based on the programs we have to educate young people in environmental science, and the actions students have taken to help fight extinction and conserve our environment. As a part of this, Wantirna College is featured as a Fighting Extinction School on the Zoos Victoria website.

This semester the Year 9 Science of Environment students are planning on adopting another endangered species and taking some of their own actions to help fight extinction. The Year 11 class are also planning on taking actions and are working towards that at the moment. They have lots of good ideas which were prompted by a recent Environmental Science program at Werribee Open Range Zoo focused on real problems within conservation and biodiversity. I will share their actions as they take more steps towards completing them.
If you'd also like to take action in fighting extinction, please visit the Zoos Victoria website for ideas - http://www.zoo.org.au/get-involved
Simple actions make a real difference.
