How to increase your marks

Learning, reflection and personal goal setting.

“You cannot push anyone up the ladder unless he is willing to climb himself.” - Robert Schuller.

With the end of Term 3 approaching, students will be receiving their Interim Reports and will attend the Parent Student Teacher Interviews on Tuesday 13th September. This is a great opportunity for students to reflect upon their learning for the term and to set themselves some personal learning goals for the term ahead. Students personal learning goals can focus on the behaviours, knowledge and understandings that the student identifies as important to their own learning. Previous research into the motivation and efficiency of students has indicated that students who set their own learning goals tend to achieve more than when working on goals set for them by the teacher. They have more confidence to take on more challenging tasks and their motivation to improve increases.

For our Later Years Students, the examination period is also approaching and this provides the opportunity for students to reflect, revise and establish a plan to demonstrate their learning to the highest possible level.

To support our students in doing so, we have included in this newsletter some tips from Psychologist Andrew Fuller on ‘How to increase your marks.’ We hope that all students find this useful in assisting them in setting their own Personal Learning Goals for Term 4.
