Athletics Carnival

Wantirna Athletics Carnival

On Tuesday 9th August, Wantirna held its annual Athletics Carnival at the Knox Athletics Track. The day was jam packed with many fun filled activities and some great competitive racing. Once again a number of students went to a great deal of effort to dress up in home group colours, particularly year 12 students.

There were many events on offer, ranging from track and field events, as well as the novelty events including the longest kick, sack race, tunnel ball and tug of war

Well done also to all place getters – especially to our main race winners.  These students will now be representing the college at the Knox Division Athletics to be held on Monday 12th September. Good luck to those students who will be representing Wantirna at this race meet. I’m sure you will do Wantirna proud!

Congratulations must also go to the following home group winners, with 9S being our overall winner, scoring the most points of any home group throughout the day.

Year 7: 7S

Year 8: 8C

Year 9: 9S

Year 10: 10A

Year 10: 11B

Year 12: 12D

I would like to congratulate and thank all students who attended and actively participated throughout the day, as well as the parents who supported the event by ensuring their child attended the carnival.

Finally, I would like to thank all Year 11 VCAL students and the many others students who volunteered on the day, as well as the main officials who worked tirelessly in windy conditions to ensure a smooth running carnival. A final thank you to the staff of Wantirna, as it is them who make the carnival a success and without them the event would not be possible.
