Art Club

The Art Club, which runs from 3:30-5pm on Thursday afternoons, started out as Pottery club in 2014.  This year it expanded to include a small group of students working on a mural for the junior locker bay, and has recently evolved into ‘Art club’ to allow students with diverse creative interests time and assistance to explore new skills and materials.

Students choose what they wish to work on, and ask for assistance if they need to learn new skills to complete it. It’s a very self-directed program, and everyone is working on something different. The students often assist each other with learning new skills also – and we even have some staff dropping by to widen their skillset! This term most of the students are working on clay – either handbuilding, casting,  or on the wheel.

Harmony has used slip casting to make this lovely fish teapot.
