Subject Expo & Subject Selection Information Sessions

Working with students and parents this past week has highlighted the strength of the school/home relationships we have developed in our community. Our Subject Expo and Subject Information sessions on Wednesday provided strong evidence of this.
The number of parents and students who took the opportunity to participate in these activities was fantastic. The Subject Expo hummed with conversation as our interested audience sought advice and guidance. The staff who manned the subject stalls came away with a great feeling from their many conversations.
Earlier in the day, the Year 10 students had also been interested visitors to the Expo. Their mission was to find out information that would assist them to choose their subjects prior to Monday’s counselling sessions.
The three Information Sessions for Years 8, 9 and 10 were also very well attended. We appreciate the effort that our families made to come out on a very cool night. As we said on the night, it is an exciting time for your child and for you as we start the process of assisting students to move from Year 8 into 9, 9 into 10 and 10 into VCE/VET/VCAL. Some students will be daunted by this process so we really urge them to talk with you and their teachers about the process.
If parents or students have any queries, remember that the Curriculum Team, the Junior and Senior School Teams and the Careers Team are all available to assist you and your children to make considered and knowledgeable decisions.
Year 10 students have received their Subject Selection Paperwork and Year 8 and 9 students will be receiving their individual selection sheet early next week. We are hopeful that Year 10 students will have begun the process online before their Counselling appointment on Monday 31st July. Year 8 and 9 will have until the 11th August to return their forms back to the Curriculum Office (in the Library).
Finally, we have placed the Powerpoints from the night onto Compass for you to have another look at. Also below are the steps to find the 2018 year Handbooks. Have a look over the weekend and have a good chat about all your options.
Thank you to everyone involved for a terrific afternoon and evening.
