Principal's Report

This week student performance and achievement was celebrated in our College. The annual Year 9 Speak Up Competition showcased our students’ public speaking skills and persuasive techniques. Students challenged the judges to think about the value of coriander, the effects of social expectation, the impact of technology on children and the banning of alcohol advertising. The speeches were of a very high standard with the judges awarding first prize to Grace Teagle.
On Friday we held a Semester One Awards Ceremony to celebrate the outstanding achievements of students form all year levels. Students were acknowledged for high levels of academic achievement and commitment to learning.
Whilst not everyone received an Award, in our school we have high expectations of all students to strive to be the best they can be in all aspects of school life and we encourage students to reflect on their own achievements and growth in their learning during Semester One. It is important for all students to set goals for themselves, in Semester Two, to aspire to achieve their own personal best by the end of the year.
The Awards ceremony was a great community event with many parents and family members able to join in the celebration with their children and teachers. A highlight of each of the Assemblies was the performance by Year 7 student, Rarnee Boyd, who sang beautifully and professionally. Thank you to Rarnee, our parents and families who attended and congratulations to all Award recipients.
Please welcome the following new staff to the College: Alycia Benincasa, PE/Science Teacher; Tracey Simpson, Integration Aide; Thom Mann, Drum Teacher and Christian Duboudin Guitar Teacher.
