ComparED Website

The ComparED website can provide prospective students with relevant and transparent information about Australian higher education institutions from the perspective of current students and recent graduates. So, with ComparED, students can explore and compare the quality of higher education institutions and study areas they are interested in, based on the experiences of others. The ComparED website allows students to compare specific institutions and/or study areas. The data available is sourced from the Quality Indicators for Learning and Teaching (QILT) surveys. Please note it may not include all courses and all institutions but it is a great one to add to your list for research.

Visit ComparED and explore and compare institutions and study areas based on real life student experiences.

Key dates for applications below:

Year 10 Work Experience and Careers Classes

1: YEAR 10 WORK EXPERIENCE

A reminder we have set aside the final week of Term 2 (Monday 15 to Friday 19 June). We understand these dates are not always suitable to take advantage of available opportunities,

therefore  as I have mentioned previously we are very happy to discuss other times that are more accommodating. Regardless, students must let us know in advance and complete the Work Experience Arrangement Form which you can download from Compass resources or from our dedicated Careers Website here.  I also encourage students to remember to check the Year 10  Compass newsfeed as I post work experience opportunities regularly, as they arise.

Students should try to make their own arrangements for work experience, so start talking to those neighbours, friends and family members who might be able to offer something. Students should also directly contact employers in their fields of interest; showing confidence and initiative by making direct contact would be attractive qualities to demonstrate. Below is a copy of the Work Experience Resource book 2020  that has a great list of businesses and industries offering placements. However, as I have mentioned previously, some of these do need to be applied for months in advance and are highly competitive.

2: YEAR 10 CAREERS AND PATHWAYS CLASSES

Reminder thatALL Year 10 students will participate in Careers and Pathways during our Electives Program in Term 2. We already have a number of great guest presentations and workshops lined up to assist them as they draw closer to subject selection, including a host of other activities commencing with our Careers Activities Week from Tuesday 28 April - Friday 1 May which will see them earn three valuable Certificates that they can take out into the workforce or use throughout their senior years no matter what industry they are interested in.

Reminder about these two fun new tools

RMIT University – Pathways Tool

The traditional path into university is not the only one.  RMIT offers a large range of vocational education courses that lead into undergraduate study. Students are encouraged to browse RMIT’s new pathways tool to find out more at

RMIT University – Pathways Tool. Many of these pathways can be applied to other institutions.

RMIT Engineering Quiz

With so many different types of engineering available, it can be hard to decide which one is best for you. Take RMIT's interactive quiz to discover which engineering courses or double degrees are matched to you. https://trueengineer.rmit.edu.au/. These courses can be applied to many other institutions.
