John XXIII Rowing Club

Dear Families
It's another busy weekend on the water for our rowers. On Saturday our girls will be competing in the IGSSA Regatta hosted by Perth College, and on Sunday our boys will be competing in the Mettams Head Race. This race is of great historical value as it honours Gunner George Mettam of the West Australian Rowing Club, the 7th man of the victorious AIF No 1 crew that won the King’s Cup at the Henley Peace Regatta In 1919.
Good luck to all rowers and we look forward to seeing fmaily and friends at these events cheering on our crews!
Stack Team App
Just a reminder, if you haven’t already, please download the ‘Stack Team App’ on your phone as this is the central place for rowing information, including schedules, training updates, and access to the rowing handbook. It is important that all rowers and parents have access.
Go to the App Store or Google Play and download Stack Team App onto your mobile device, then follow these simple steps:
- Sign-up for the Stack Team App. You’ll be sent an email to confirm your registration.
- Log in and search for JTCRC, then request to become a member.
Asthma and allergies
All rowers with asthma or allergies are reminded to bring asthma puffers, EpiPens or required medication to all sessions.

Changes to the training schedule
To ensure the girls can load their trailer before each of their IGSSA regattas, the rotation for Friday morning training has changed slightly. Please note the respective Friday morning training dates below:
Boys (Years 9 to 12) | Girls (Years 9 to 12) | |
---|---|---|
Friday Morning rotation | 2 June | 26 May |
16 June | 9 June | |
30 June | 23 June |
Diamond Fitness
We are very excited to have Diamond Fitness deliver a Strength and Conditioning program specific to rowing. To get the most out of this program, Diamond Fitness have requested that they coach our Years 10 to 12 rowers in groups no larger than 15. This will allow them to teach good form and movement patterns which the rowers will learn for life beyond school.
To accommodate this, the boys' Wednesday morning session will run from 6am-8am, with the group split into two smaller groups rotating between the Erg session and Strength & Conditioning session. Years 10 to 12 boys will then have Wednesday afternoon off.
Group 1 | Group 2 | |
---|---|---|
6am-7am | S&C | Erg |
7am-8am | Erg | S&C |
Years 10 to 12 girls will have their Strength & Conditioning session on Thursday afternoons 3:30pm-4:30pm.
Rowers, please note: coaches will continue to take attendance for these land training sessions and report if a rower is only turning up for Diamond Fitness and neglecting the equally valuable erg sessions.
Buses
- Pick up: 5:05am at JTC bus shelter
