New Basketball Team success!

Celebrating BPPS sporting success

We wanted to celebrate the success of a new BPPS basketball team that started playing competition this week.

The team consists of grade 3 / 4 boys many who have never played before.

The boys met as a team for the first time on the night of their game with a quick training session just prior to run through the rules and some key skills.

The parents watched nervously from the sidelines unsure of how they would fair in a competition especially with limited to no match experience but they went out onto the court blazing and established an early lead.  The parents screamed loads of encouragement and couldn’t stop beaming from ear to ear.

For those that had played before, there was some clear talent in the side but what was most impressive was the way these 7 boys came together to support each other as a team whilst competitive but also understanding the need to have fun and let everyone have a go.

From this point their confidence continued to grow and there was just no stopping them.  The cheers grew even louder and many parents were left with croaky voices!

Impressively the goal shooting was shared across the team and their defensive game was unbeatable.

The boys had a smashing win 29 to 6!

It was lovely to see them so excited and proud of their accomplishments and we look forward to watching them continue to develop and improve over the course of the season.

Well done to our Flaming Echidnas!

Special mention to Kim and Jem for their efforts over the holidays to get our boys connected and ready for play.  Without you amazing ladies this wouldn’t be possible and we’re very grateful and appreciative of the time invested.
