Assistant Principal

Julie Ryan

Last week I had the opportunity to attend the Year 9 and Year 10 awards assemblies which celebrated the achievements of our students not only academically, but across a range of areas such as attendance, participation, leadership, contribution to the college community, arts, sports, values cards and the Principal’s award. Students appreciated their efforts being acknowledged and were well supported by their peers.

Semester 1 reports have now been published and it is highly important that students and families explore these reports together. This will assist students to develop a clear idea about how they have performed academically in Semester 1 and how they can work with their teachers to continuously build upon their skills moving into Semester 2.

Student reports are also an important resource for the subject selection process which will be occurring this term. To ensure that our Year 9 and 10 students and families have the information they require around this process, there will be student information assemblies delivered to students during the school day. To support parents, there will be Information Evenings to outline the transition for students at the following times:

Year 11 2024 – Tuesday 25th July

Year 10 2024 – Thursday 27th July

Year 9 2024 - Tuesday 1st of August

Another highlight from last week were the guest presenters from Project Rockit who delivered messages to our Year 9 students around cyber bullying, the dangers associated with social media and how that can have a lasting impact on others.

A highlight of my year is always Year 10 Work Experience. Last week I got to visit many students at their workplaces. The positive feedback I received about our students from their employers was AMAZING! Many students were able to secure part time employment or received an offer of work based upon their efforts this week. I am so very proud of our Year 10 students for their efforts last week. I take this opportunity to thank all those staff involved in making Work Experience such a meaningful opportunity for our students, but in particular, Ms Bussell our careers leader, Ms Cujic, Ms Lilikakis, Ms Raza and Mrs Kotsopoulos.
