The last day of Term 2 was a School Closure Day and all staff continued their Professional Development in the ReLATE Program (Reframing Learning and Teaching Environments). Previous newsletters have provided some information regarding the ReLATE Program as we continue to move forward into our second year. In short ReLATE is a research and evidence informed model supporting schools to create the preconditions for improved teaching, learning and wellbeing. As part of the ReLATE Program we ask that parents/caregivers of Grade 4-6 students complete the VOCAL survey we administer with Monash University. 

The VOCAL-21 collects student views regarding their engagement, safety, and environment at school. Responses are completely non-identifiable.

This is Timepoint 2 for this survey.

PARENTING TIP FROM 

 

 

You’ve probably had conversations with your kids about boundaries.

Maybe you’ve talked about why boundaries matter, what to do when boundaries are crossed, and how to get out of uncomfortable situations.

But sometimes, it’s still hard for children to know when something is okay and when it’s not. How do they know when it’s time to stand up for themselves?

 

The key is being able to listen to their bodies.

From sweaty palms to upset stomachs, our bodies give us warning signals that say, “This isn’t okay–it’s time to speak up.”

This week, we’re sharing Crossed Body Boundaries Might Feel Like… (Poster) to help teach kids how to identify early warning signs when they may feel unsafe or uncomfortable.
