English & Literacy
Year 7 English
A warm welcome to all of our Year 7 students and their families!
This term in English, students are focusing on narrative and the art of creative writing. We are learning about the narrative arc, genre, and the development of characters, setting and plot.
This week students have been exploring the idea of genre and playing with the ways fiction can be categorised. Here, 7A students create a character using conventions from two combined genres. I can’t wait to read about ‘rainbow fairy Freddy Krueger’, ‘Buzz Woody’, ‘Cowboy Teletubby’, ‘Zombie Sweetheart’ and all of the other unique characters created by students!

Literacy & Numeracy
We are thrilled to be able to offer a range of supports to students right across the College in the areas of Literacy and Numeracy this year. We have several new tutors that we welcome to the school as part of our Tutor Learning Initiative, as well as new staff working within the Middle Years Literacy & Numeracy Strategy. We have been spending time developing our new space – operating out of B2 – and have loads of new resources, furniture and tools for engaging and growing students’ learning. These programs will reach over 200 students! We’re looking forward to getting started and watching our students achieve their literacy and numeracy goals.
