EXCITING NEW YEAR 10 CAREERS PROGRAM IN 2022!

Welcome to Year 10 CAPs (Career Action Planning) Program

Effective careers and transition programs are a vital component of school strategies to improve student engagement and increase school completion. For several years Wheelers Hill Secondary College has had in place careers and transitions programs via Year 10 Futures. These programs provide every young person with careers guidance to support them in making informed and effective course and career decisions so that they have every opportunity to succeed, and lead fulfilling and productive lives.

To complement the Futures Program, as of 2022 all year 10 students will be provided with a one-to-one Career Counselling session under the new Year 10 CAPs Program. Each student will be provided with individual guidance that will support their personal goals, interests, abilities, and skills and therefore assist them with making a successful transition through the senior secondary years of education to further education, training or full-time employment.  This program will also provide additional support to students at risk by linking them to targeted programs that can assist with their goal setting and career aspirations.

Overall, the Year 10 CAPs Program aims to help students to:

  • develop their knowledge and understanding of education, training, and employment options, and
  • develop skills to effectively manage their careers and pathways throughout their lives.

The Year 10 CAPs Program will run over two terms and commence in Term 1, 2022.  The work each student undertakes in Futures will be the catalyst for authentic career conversations that will assist them with making informed career decisions.
