Commendations
This year our staff will be able to acknowledge the effort, achievement and growth of students through Commendations. This is a school-based acknowledgement that is facilitated through our intranet, SIMON.
Commendations can be given in the areas of:
Demonstration of School values: Compassion
Demonstration of School values: Dignity
Demonstration of School values: Forgiveness
Demonstration of School values: Generosity
Demonstration of School values: Respect
Demonstration of School values: Reverence
Environment
Involvement in community
Sport
The Arts
Parents will be able to see Commendations via their child’s PAM account. Staff will be judicious in giving Commendations because we want them to have value; they are to recognise authentic effort and growth on an individual basis. We also want our students to be proud of their growth and achievements. Success is different for each of us and our Commendations are a way to recognise this. It will also give us an opportunity to acknowledge students who are demonstrating our school values. When we live from our values our community is animated by those same values and they become embedded in our culture.
Uniform
I would like to commend our students because there has been an obvious improvement in the way they are wearing their summer uniform. The number of students wearing incorrect uniform has decreased and this is a really good trend. At the moment, it is more likely that students are in the right uniform on the right day and this is terrific. It is also the expectation.
A reminder that students should only have one earring in each ear and that these should be plain studs or sleepers.
Students in isolation
Currently, many of our students are finding themselves isolating due to COVID -19. Families have been very patient in what are no doubt challenging circumstances and we are very grateful. Our staff have been wonderful in responding to the needs of our students and I am very appreciative of this. The recommendation is for students and staff to test Monday and Thursday. In the event of a positive test result, please contact your child’s House Leader or Catherine Howison on 50329771 (choose the Pastoral Care Centre option) or Catherine Howison on 0447 666 113 (prior to 8:30 am or after 4:00pm).
Our school community has always responded well to the challenges of COVID and the current situation is no different. In the words of St Mary MacKillop “work on with constancy and courage.”
