Snapshot Tasks

You may have noticed a new type of task when checking your child’s Compass in recent weeks.  In 2022, all AHS teachers will use Compass to provide hurdle feedback for students and parents in the form of Snapshot Tasks.  The purpose of Snapshot Tasks is to track student completion/submission of key learning activities, as a visible record of engagement in classes and progression towards a learning outcome.

  • VCE classes will complete one Snapshot Task per week, and Year 7-10 classes will complete approximately one Snapshot Task per fortnight for each subject.
  • Teachers will check if these tasks have been submitted by sighting the work in class, and logging them on the Learning Task as either 'Completed', 'Partially Completed', or 'Not Attempted'.
  • Students and families can check which lesson activities have been assigned as Snapshot Tasks by accessing ‘Learning Tasks’ under the Teaching and Learning menu on Compass. Details of the relevant tasks can be found under ‘Task Details’ and students can check their submission has been recorded via ‘Feedback’.

The intention is that this new initiative will support students to track their own work completion and/or engagement in classes, increasing accountability and independence.
