Building update

Exciting news - after working with Raeco and our architects at Wowowa, we have now ordered brand new shelving for the new library space.  The design looks great and we look forward to installation over the April holidays.  The new furniture has been made possible thanks to those families who have generously contributed to our Library Fund.

Last week, the new climate control units were lifted up to the roof, an important milestone for the project.  We will now be able to reclaim some of the canteen courtyard for student use and the builders will be clearing some space and moving the temporary fencing accordingly over the next few days.  The bulk of the work is now taking place in the ‘core’ area on the second floor and we anticipate that works will soon be isolated to the roof area only.  New joinery and flooring will be completed in the Physics and Chemistry rooms this week.

Year 7 and 10 Immunisation program

Boroondara Immunisation Service will be conducting the regular National Immunisation Program (meningococcal, HPV, Diptheria/ Tetanus/ Whooping cough) back onsite on 29th March.  Consent packs were sent home with students last week and spares are available at the office.  The consent forms need to be returned ASAP please, regardless of whether or not your child will be taking part.  Please note this program does not include any form of Covid-19 vaccination.  Students are encouraged to access the Covid vaccine through their GP, pharmacy or local hub.

Great Melbourne Race and City Project

A highlight of the Year 9 calendar each year, the City Project experience has been in full swing this week following the introductory event, the Great Melbourne Race.  In the Race, students worked in teams and problem-solved their way around the CBD, from the heights of the Eureka Tower to the hallowed Melbourne Cricket Ground.  Students are based at the City Cite this week, collaborating with their team mates to complete an extended research project.  We look forward to seeing them present their findings at the (remote) presentation evening for parents and friends on March 1st.  Huge thanks to our City Project Coordinator, Emily Zaccaria, and the team for all their efforts in organising this memorable experience for our students.
