Student Dress Code

Greater Shepparton Secondary College School Uniform

Dear Families,

Our Student Dress Code aims to:

• foster a sense of community and belonging and encourages students to develop pride in their appearance

• support Greater Shepparton Secondary College’s commitment to ensuring that our students feel equal and are dressed safely and appropriately for school activities.

• reduce student competition on the basis of clothing

• enhance the profile and identity of the school and its students within the wider community.

Last week I reminded families about the correct footwear and how essential it is for students undertaking a technology subject to wear leather shoes to protect their feet when using the technology equipment. This is an OH&S requirement and we are expected to follow DET and WorkSafe requirements.

Below is the type of correct footwear for our College.

By Monday 14th February students who are undertaking a technology subject must wear full leather shoes - black (leather boots can be brought to school and changed into) to be able to participate.

PE Classes

If students are wearing black leather shoes to school but they don’t yet have black leather runners for PE and Sport, they may bring their coloured runners to school and change into these before their PE/Sports class, but they must change back into their black leather shoes after class. This is until they are able to purchase black leather runners. If students are wearing black leather runners to school they should remain in these for Sport and PE.

A reminder to all families that hoodies and different coloured windcheaters are not school uniform and are unacceptable. Students wearing these will be asked to remove them and keep them in their locker. Any student who continues to wear a hoodie or a different coloured windcheater each day will be asked to remove it and it will be kept in the office until the end of the day. Consequences will be given to students who continue to ignore our Student Dress Code Policy.

Thank you to all our families for supporting their child/children to be in full school uniform everyday. We have high expectations of our students and wearing full school uniform creates, in our students, a sense of belonging and pride in our College.

If you are experiencing financial difficulties, please contact the College for assistance in purchasing school uniform.
