Moving into 2022, the college has continued this year to stress the importance of students having a strong pathway plan.

My Career Insights

On the 16th of February, our year 9 students completed their Morrisby profile as part of the DETs initiative, My Career Insights

This program helps students to:

  • Learn about what skills and abilities they could bring to a job.
  • Find out about what jobs match their abilities, interests and personality, and the subjects they need for those jobs.

As part of the program, students completed a series of online questions and quizzes (on the Morrisby Profile website) at school.

They will:

  • Receive a Morrisby Profile Report showing the results from the questions and quizzes, and possible jobs that match their abilities, interests and personality.
  • Have a 30-minute meeting with a Morrisby-trained Career Practitioner, who will explain the report to the student. These interviews are scheduled to start taking place in early March and will continue into term 2.

Structured Workplace Learning Placements

Our VCAL students are preparing to start their Structured Workplace Learning placements. Structured Workplace Learning is a placement that occurs one day a week of work placement in an industry related to their VET course. These placements are primarily organised by students and they will learning specific skills while they are there. Work placements helps students find out more about employment and training opportunities in the industry. They have been completing their mandatory OH&S certificates in preparation for their first placement. In early March, students will be visited by a member of our Local Learning and Employment Network to assist with achieving placement success.

Careers Website

If you have not seen it already, the college has a fantastic and informative careers website. This is incredibly useful for students and families in planning careers and pathways. Head over to edgarscreekcareers.com to view this resource.
