To our Parents and Friends,
As the holidays and Christmas approach it is timely to reflect on all we have achieved over 2021. It has certainly been an interesting year where our resilience, ability to adapt and deal with uncertainty have been tested. We have all had to face disappointment as much anticipated events were cancelled and many plans were put on hold. I feel the most memorable parts of 2021 were the incredible ability of our community to make the most of what we have, to look for opportunities, and to see possibilities rather than obstacles. The students and staff must be applauded for enabling schooling and the all important school connections to continue during lockdown and resume safely once COVID restrictions allowed. Year 12 in particular have faced a challenging conclusion to their Kinross school journey and we wish them well in their future endeavours. We also thank those staff departing at the end of term and wish them all the best for their future.
The P&F would like to acknowledge and thank all the staff for their hard work and adaptability in these ever changing times. The emphasis on wellbeing during lockdown was much appreciated and enabled continued school connectivity despite significant geographical separation, particularly for boarding students. As the P&F boarding representative I am acutely aware of how isolating the last few years have been for boarding parents who do not have the incidental interactions that school/sport drop offs provide for day parents. Many of the usual social opportunities for boarding-school community connection have not been able to proceed. In discussions with boarding parents it is these events that are particularly missed. To me, this highlights how important the connection to our school community is in our lives and in the sense of wellbeing of the whole school. It is certainly the hope of the P&F that we can continue to build these relationships over 2022.
We look forward to welcoming new parents to a Welcome Morning Tea on the first day of Term 1 2022 (1st February). Please save the date. Invitations will be sent shortly.
The next P&F Meeting is Wednesday 16 February at 7pm. We invite parents to attend remotely or face to face. A zoom link will be communicated nearer the time.
On behalf of the Parents' and Friends' Association I would like to wish Seasons Greetings and a safe, happy holiday to you all.
Kind regards
Caroline Ivey and on behalf of Christine Fraser
