From the Deputy Principal

When I look out my window and watch our students streaming across the quadrangle, laughing with their friends, sharing stories in a group or chatting to their teachers I am reminded about the power of connection and community.  In the weeks before school started the bell would go, regardless of the lack of children in the school, (!) and I’m always struck by how the presence of our students is such a blessing.

As we returned to school I took the opportunity to remind our students of their role in building and maintain this special community.  Our School Captains asked them to be kind to themselves and each other, to look out for new students and make them welcome and to take advantage of the many opportunities they have.  I reminded our students why we have a school uniform: to build belonging and responsibility; and asked our students to remember to check their uniform and hair to make sure they are taking pride in their own presentation.  I have been so impressed by their responsibility with mask wearing for those students who are required to wear them.  It’s not an easy task to be thoughtful about this and they are coping very well.

On Monday we will induct our school leaders for 2022 and I invite you to join us at either the Junior School Leaders’ Induction Assembly in the Hall at 9.10am or at the Middle and Senior School Leaders’ Induction Assembly at 10.15am in the Multi-Purpose Sport Complex.  Please remember to observe physical distancing, mask wearing requirements and sign in using the QR codes.  Students are required to wear presentation uniform for these special events.

Please don’t hesitate to contact me if you have any queries or feedback as the year begins, I really appreciate your thoughts and ideas.  Here’s to a great year of learning and fun!
