Book Week at HCC

Four Thank Yous and a Please

On 22-26 August, HCC celebrated Book Week. We all enjoyed the events!

A huge thank you to everyone who let their creativity fly creating costumes for the Book Character Parade on Tuesday 23 August.  2022 saw some of the best costumes ever!

Thank you to all the Secondary students who relived their younger selves and read to the Primary students during lunchtime.

Thank you also to the dedicated HCC staff who came to the library during recess and read a book to students with great inflection and passion.  Especially Mr Bunyon with all those Fox in Sox rhymes so deftly read!

Our final thank you is again to Secondary students who submitted those diverse and evocative multi-media items for the creativity competition around ‘Dreaming with Eyes Open’.

Remember that reading is so good for us, especially when practiced regularly.  So ‘Please’ continue those good reading habits formed during Book Week 2022. May the Lord bless all your reading discoveries.

Here are a few quotes to inspire you…

No matter how busy you may think you are, you must find time for reading, or surrender yourself to self-chosen ignorance.” Confucius

The man who does not read has no advantage over the man who cannot read.” Mark Twain

“If you want your children to be intelligent, read them fairy tales. If you want them to be more intelligent, read them more fairy tales.” Albert Einstein

and my favourite…

“Reading is to the mind what exercise is to the body.” Richard Steele
