Science Week

GLASS

Carlton North Primary School celebrated Science Week 2022 with an exploration about ‘glass’. Students in Foundation had a great time investigating how magnifying glasses can be used to make small things appear bigger.

Year 1/2 students explored how reflective surfaces can bounce light in different directions by making kaleidoscopes.

Year 3/4 students learned about glass recycling by creating stained glass biscuits. We explored how glass can also be infinitely recycled by simulating this using crushing up lollies and remelting.

Finally, Year 5/6 students used concave and convex lenses to create working telescopes, just like Galileo did hundreds of years ago. We had a great time and learned lots of information about glass, mirrors and lights.
