Tournament of the Minds 

Two teams of seven from Solway Primary School, from Years 5 and 6, participated in a competition known as Tournament of the Minds. Tournament of the Minds is an inter school competition where students are attempting to use their creative thinking skills to form a play based on a prompt they obtained at the start of the competition. 

Team One, which consisted of; Jack L, Tommy P, Ben C, Annable R, Abi R, Ava H and Sam V, picked the arts prompt. Team Two’s members were Lewis Y, Hugh C, Rhythm M, Alicia S, Tilly G, Amelia M and Frankie H and they did the literature prompt. When the teams went to Deakin University they both displayed their plays and participated in the ‘spontaneous challenge’. They were given a different prompt for their spontaneous problem and only had 5 minutes to complete it. The prompt will be told to the public on the 3rd of September at 6pm. 

Teams who come out of the competition victorious move on to the next stage, ‘States’, but unfortunately none of the Solway teams prevailed. Thank you, Miss Nichols and Miss Danaher, for organising this event!
