Birds in Backyard Spring Survey Time

When you complete a Birds in Backyards Survey in Birdata, you help us to understand our local birds and give us invaluable insight into their daily lives.

You can also win great prizes! There will be give aways of Birds in Backyards prize packs and even some extra special goodies throughout 2022, but to win you have to enter your surveys in Birdata.

To get involved you simply spend 20 minutes somewhere you can view birds - your backyard, or other favourite space, record the bird species you see and count how many there are.

Tefal Myer Exclusive Instore Recycling Program.

Myer is trialing a recycling program until Sunday 6th November 2022.

Myer have placed recycle bins in selected stores as a way to encourage customers to recycle old cookware pieces. This cookware is collected by Veolia and recycled into new products which enables manufacturing, mining and metal industries to not use virgin materials in their production processes, which is more sustainable for our economy and environment.

Click this link for selected stores to drop off your old pots and pans.

Tips for Sustainability

  • Did you know that you can stick fruit and vegetables stickers on the inside of a flexible plastic bag to be recycled? Add that to your flexible plastics instead of adding to landfill.
  • Do you dry out your plastic bags?
When you purchase meat in a plastic bag, rinse it, hang to dry and then add to your flexible plastics to be recycled.

Take responsibility for how you choose to dispose of your plastic bags.

If you have a Sustainability Tip you would like to share with our school community, please email leslie.dundon@gmail.com to have it included in the newsletter.
