Year 3-6 Swimming Sports

Last Friday our Year 3-6 students competed in the small school's cluster swimming at the Elmore outdoor pool. We joined students and staff from our other cluster small schools (Goornong, Colbinabin, Nanneella, Elmore and OLSH).

Congratulations to all of our students who represented our school proudly and competed in as many events as they could.

Raywood Primary School set to clean up!

Tomorrow (Friday) our students will be participating in the Clean Up Australia Day effort and going on an adventure to the Recreation Reserve and cleaning up any rubbish they find. Students have their gloves and bags ready and are excited to be helping their local community. Parents please ensure you have provided permission on uEducateUs so we can take your child/ren out of the school grounds. We will be leaving at 10am and if anyone feels like a walk and would like to join us, you are most welcome.

Have you signed up for free dental services yet?

School Council

The members of the Raywood Primary School Council had their first meeting on Monday night.  We welcome Lisa A to our council who will join Jarrod, Jess, Bree, Mitch, Hayden and myself as parent and staff representatives. We will work hard to promote our school and the wonderful programs we have here. We know what a special place Raywood Primary School is and how fortunate our students are to be in such a caring, well resourced and fun environment where each student's individual needs (educational, emotional and social) are met. It is about getting the word out to others in the community that choose to send their children into Bendigo or East Loddon and especially to those with young children who are still deciding on the right school for their child. Council aim to promote our school so that we can "share the love" with more students and their families.

Our Annual General Meeting will be held on March 20th and this is where we will deliver our annual reports and elect new office bearers.

NAPLAN

Each year students in Years 3 and 5 are expected to sit a series of four tests in the areas of Reading (comprehension), Spelling & Grammar, Writing and Numeracy. These tests take place over a nearly two week period. With the exception of the Year 3 Writing Test, these tests are all conducted online. All tests are marked externally and results are provided to families and students some time later. Traditionally, the NAPLAN testing period has been in mid May. However, this year it has been moved to March. Our dates are as follows:

Wednesday  March 15th - Writing

Friday March 17th - Reading

Tuesday March  21st - Grammar and Conventions

Tuesday  March 21st - Numeracy

Icy Poles and Drinks

In the absence of a canteen, we offer the purchase of a juice box ($1) or an icy-pole (50c)  at lunch times. Students can bring along the exact money on the day they wish to purchase or they are able to "bank" an amount and to use to to "draw down" their total when they please. If you are sending "banked" money along with students, please ensure it is in a named envelope with the purpose of the money (ie drink/icy pole money) written on the front. Students purchasing with the correct amount do not need to do this and a good place for the money for single purchases is in their lunchbox so they see it and can easily locate it.

Keep up with the latest
