Welcome

The Weekly Edit

Welcome to Week 3 of Term 1.  Last week we shared a delicious orange cake in honour of past student Alice Bellingham graduating as a specialist obstetrician & gynaecologist. This is a wonderful testament to our previous and current staff and how much students can aspire to and achieve in small rural schools.  You can read about Alice in our Student News page.  For current students in years 10-12 who are perhaps thinking about a future career in medicine or dentistry please see our careers page for information on an upcoming free webinar.

Our students have been busy practicing swimming in all sorts of weather this term and we give huge thanks to all of the teachers and swim coaches who have assisted with our swimming program.  In particular we wish to thank community member and experienced swim coach Helen L'Huillier for her time and effort this year.  Our teachers have remarked on the visible swimming improvements of students under Helen's expert guidance.  Thank you.

Several of our band students are looking forward to attending the NEVR Music Reading Day at Wangaratta High School this Friday.  This excursion will provide some of our advanced senior music students the opportunity to develop their musical sight reading at a professional development day and to get first access to new compositions.  Thank you to our music teacher Belle Hungerford for organising this event.

We hope you can take the time to read our Community Announcements - the Saver Plus community program could be of interest to you or perhaps you are game enough to enter in the conquestathon!

At the start of the school year there is always a lot of paperwork to complete - please take the time to check in on compass to see if there are any events or absence notes outstanding, or to view your 2023 payment contributions.  We have listed these in our 'to-do' page of the newsletter for easy check-off.

You asked - we listened!  Last year, after requests from our school community and School Council we reinstated our weekly school newsletter.  This week will be our 14th issue (Issue#3 for 2023) of the online newsletter.

We are always striving to improve communications between our school and community and welcome any feedback you have on this.  We are checking back in with readers to make sure we are on the "right page" so to speak with our newsletter and if we are communicating effectively.  There is of course always room for improvement, so if you have the time, please complete our short anonymous survey here - it should only take a few minutes.  Your feedback  will be reviewed by our School Council and Staff.   Our survey will be open until next Friday 24th February at 4pm.     To look back at our newsletter archive please go to: https://newsletters.naavi.com/p/VJqPW8N/archive

Thank you and enjoy the read.
