Inquiry
This term’s Inquiry learning will centre around the question, ‘How do my strengths make me who I am?’ Students will start their journey by identifying their own personal, physical and characteristic strengths. They will explore how their unique attributes can positively impact their community. Students will explore the different strengths within the community and how they are able to use their strengths collaboratively. They will investigate their family history including their family tree, where each member was born and raised and present this information on a timeline. These learning experiences will prepare students to complete the unit by designing a family crest that depicts their personal and family’s strengths.
To support your child’s Inquiry learning, you could:
- Have open discussions about how we can use our personal strength to help others
- Discuss your child’s strengths with them and how they can be further developed
- Involve your child in conversations related to problem solving around the home. Using prompting sentences such as: “My strength is being independent, so I will show initiative by putting my dishes away after dinner.”
- Discuss your family’s strengths. Do you have any in common?
- Talk about your family tree and history. For instance, how many uncles and aunties do you have? How are they connected to your grandparents?
