RESPECTFUL, RESPONSIBLE, KIND - OUR NEW SCHOOL VALUES

RESPECTFUL, RESPONSIBLE, KIND - OUR NEW SCHOOL VALUES

This year we have introduced our new school values! Throughout last year we worked through a process with students, staff and our parents to review and refresh our existing values, to identify values that were relevant and meaningful to our school community. The values that resonated with all are RESPECTFUL, RESPONSIBLE AND KIND.

Our school values are important as they are the essence of our school; guiding our students, staff and community in shaping who we are and what we do at Buninyong PS.

Each value comes with a nutshell statement, helping to make it relevant, relatable and easy to understand so we can use them every day.

OUR VALUES:

Respectful - We value ourselves, others, and our environment.

Responsible - We take ownership of our actions and make wise choices. We know how to be safe and take care of things.

Kind - We look after and look out for everyone. We are inclusive of all.

Our school values also form the basis of our School Wide Positive Behaviour Support (SWPBS) framework. SWPBS operates on the premise that as well as being learners of Literacy and Numeracy, children are also learners of behaviour. SWPBS helps to set clear behaviour expectations and explicitly teach appropriate behaviours within our school community. More information on SWPBS, the Matrix and behaviour expectations can be found in this week’s newsletter.

Students have been learning about our new values and will continue to receive explicit instruction around the SWPBS Matrix and positive behaviours within our school. The values will be visible around the school and will be used in all areas of teaching and learning. As they come to life they will be embedded into our culture and become part of the “Buninyong Way” - who we are and what we do at Buninyong Primary School.
