Learning Growth Awards
NSW Catholic schools employ a brilliant statistician, Dr John DeCourcy, to help schools and systems better understand HSC performance and to set improvement goals. One thing John does is link NAPLAN performance to HSC performance and he calculates predicted HSC scores and learning gain achieved for each HSC student in Catholic schools across the State. Using this data we can identify the Kildare students who achieved the strongest learning gain across all subjects. These students have achieved well beyond what was expected, over and above what was predicted based on data. These students worked consistently, always did their best and it paid off. They took responsibility, trusted others, helped others, appreciated others and completely mastered this HSC. They are a model to the rest of us to be part of a team and to expect to learn and to improve.
