Canteen 

We have appointed our Canteen Operator and are expecting them to open shortly.  We will update you all as to the exact date soon.

Wellness Pavilion

We have met with the architects a number of times this year and the design development has progressed well. This week soil testing for the foundation work was undertaken. The VSBA continue to project manage the project. My thanks to Kelly Lloyd-Vanni (Business Manager) and Leigh Roberts (Facilities Manager) for their continued input into the design development phase. 

The Wellness Pavilion can be used for dance, aerobics, meditation and yoga sessions.  Contributions to the Building Fund will assist with the fit out - more before the end of the financial year. The building will be completed by mid-2024.

Design concepts 

Year 7 Parents' Information Night

Many thanks  to Detta Gordon, Hayley Dureau, Jaynen Yong, Petra Witt, Dylan Reeves, Jonathan Hall, Jenny Connolly, Sue Duggan, Rochell Dickson and Tess Molina who presented and/or facilitated an information session at the Year 7 Parent Information night followed by a meet and greet. It was a great success.  My thanks to the members of the Parents and Friends' Associatin who served food and beverages at the social part of the evening and to Detta who did the behind scenes catering and liaison with the PFA.

Tutor Learning Initiative 

The Tutor Learning Initiative (TLI) has been funded by DET for another year. This initative targets students who require support in the area of numeracy and literacy.  The TLI program commenced this week. The cycles will be between six weeks and 10 weeks in duration. Students may “graduate” from the program after one cycle but may also remain in the program for a longer period. 

Year 12 Formal 

Many thanks to the Senior School team again for their attendance at the Year 12 Formal, and particularly to Vana Dimu and Leah Liakos who did the behind the scenes organisation for the night.  Everything ran smoothly as a result. Thanks also to Bronte Vipond, Tess Molina and Sarah Scaramozzo, Hayley Dureau, Carol Duggan and Sylvia Christopoulos who came to support the VCE Team on the night as well.  The students had a really lovely time. 

Peer Support Program

Dani Kaufman, one of our Mental Health Practitioners oversees the Peer Support Program. Year 10 Peer Support Leaders were trained at the end of 2022 to prepare them for their important work in supporting the Year 7 students in their transition into secondary cchool. 

Camps

There are two camps taking place as I write this email. The Year 7 Camp is taking place at Arrabri Lodge in Warburton and the Year 12 Outdoor Education Camp is taking place in the Grampians. I look forward to hearing about their travels and experiences.

School Council

School Council elections are on the horizon with some members of School Council having completed their two year terms. I will be calling for nominations for School Council positions in the next week or so via Compass Newsfeed and through the Newsletter.
