VET UPDATE

Part of doing a VET course is that you get to participate in Seminars and Conferences on your chosen trade.

Three of our Rural Operations/Horticulture students were invited to attend the Shaping the Future Conference held at the SuniTAFE Smart Farm on Thursday 5 and Friday 6 May.

Christian Marcuzzo, Seth Papadopoulos and Jack Milne attending conference

The Conference had professionals in agriculture and horticulture speaking on new technologies in farm management from robotic fruit-picking machines, through to self-drive machinery and drone technology.

Attending things like this and trade expos look very good on a resume and boosts employability.

STRUCTURED WORK PLACEMENT

Last week I visited Courtney Russell who is undertaking VET Beauty Services and is currently doing work placement with Endota Spa Mildura. Courtney has been doing a variety of jobs with Endota including stock and product placement, assisting with the therapy rooms and observing client interactions.

Dominic Petrucci has just finished Structured Work Placement with Mildura Rural City Council where he has been working with their gardens team for the past ten weeks.  Here is Dominic busy potting seedlings. Dominic also spent time planting and doing garden maintenance with the Council gardens team.
