World of Maths Incursion

Year 7 World of Maths Incursion

The Year 7's had a break from their usual class with a Maths incursion on 5 May.

The World of Maths company ran sessions over the day for our students with a focus on understanding how Maths is used in everyday situations.

A wide range of hands-on and visual activities were provided which allowed students to work in small groups and use a range of math and collaboration skills. Thinking mathematically and using initiative skills were required to solve puzzles, work out answers and overcome the challenges in each activity. It was great to see the students actively engaged and enjoying themselves as they investigated Maths in a fun way.

In the next couple of weeks, students will begin working on their STEM Aviation projects. The STEM aviation project covers a variety of Mathematics, Science, Technology and Engineering concepts, such as measurement, speed, percentages and percentage change, energy forces, engineering design principles, and critical and creative thinking.

Students will be creating their own planes, exploring these concepts. We can’t wait to see their finished planes!
