Wellbeing/Mindfulness

In Year 3, we focused on the topic of Positive Relationships in Mindfulness. In our lesson this week, we were learning to develop listening skills to promote prosocial behaviour and build positive relationships. Some of the ways we discussed that we can show mindful listening included; giving someone your full attention when they are speaking to you, using your eyes to listen and listening carefully to what is being said. Here is an example of posters that students in Year 3 created to show ‘What Makes a Good Friend’.

In Resilience, Rights and Respectful Relationships, the Year 3s are focussing on the topic of Positive Peer Support.

Students explored that a goal is something you aim for and work to achieve. For example, A footballer aims to get the ball through the goal posts. In life, we have goals when there is something we are trying to learn or achieve. Everyone has had the experience of trying hard – trying to learn something, trying to behave well, trying to figure out a problem.

Students then had to brainstorm some goals they have had.

Following this, students were asked to do a goal setting activity in which they choose one class and one playtime strategy (to contribute positively to the class or playtime experience) that they intend to work on for the rest of the week.

Here is the amazing brainstorm students in Year 3 created around personal goals they have had.
