National Simultaneous Storytime

This week some of our primary classes participated in National Simultaneous Storytime.  National Simultaneous Storytime (NSS) is held annually by the Australian Library and Information Association (ALIA). Every year a picture book, written and illustrated by an Australian author and illustrator, is read simultaneously in libraries, schools, pre-schools, childcare centres, family homes, bookshops and many other places around the country. The book that was shared by children all over Australia and New Zealand this year was Family Tree by Josh Pyke.

The Year 2 class enjoyed listening to the story outside sitting under the gum trees in the Nature Playground.  We then went inside to make our own trees using pencils, textas, and a combination of bark, leaves, gum nuts and blossoms that had fallen from the trees.

Premiers Reading Challenge

It is wonderful to see so many students engaged in the Premiers Reading Challenge this year. A number of students have already read the required number of books to meet the challenge, and some have even requested to increase their book numbers to further challenge themselves. There is still plenty of time for children to complete the challenge, so please encourage your children to read and record their books. Mrs. Nield can help them log on to the challenge and record their books if needed.
