Year 9 & 10 - Coding

The Year 9 & 10 Coding students have just finished a unit on Arduinos. These single board computers allow students to write code that can be compiled and executed. This required them to understand basic electrical circuits. Dominic in Year 9 was particularly helpful and has decided to work further with Arduinos as part of his Bronze Duke of Edinburgh Award.

Year 9 & 10 - Outdoor Education

Students in Year 9 & 10 Outdoor Education have begun preparations for their upcoming Grampians Camp in mid June. Students are undertaking a range of field experience lessons around Warrnambool to hone their navigation, bush craft and environmental skills. This week’s lesson featured a navigation challenge at Tower Hill using just a compass and a map to track their location in some rather steep and overgrown terrain. Stay tuned for more updates as we prepare for our exciting camp.

Year 10 - Physical Education

Students in Year 10 PE have commenced their Lawn Bowls unit at City Memorial Bowls Club. Students were introduced to the Bowls Development Coordinator, Bryan Sheehan, who guided students in their lesson under the dome. Students got to experience the first class facility with their own private rinks, and showed particular promise in week 1 of this new experience.

Year 11 & 12 - Melbourne Trip

Our Year 11 and 12 students had the opportunity to travel up to Melbourne for a day. We spent time at the Victorian Careers Show where students were able to speak with a wide range of practitioners, both in career and study pathways. There were also opportunities to attend VCE subject lectures. Following the Careers show, we enjoyed a tour of Melbourne University. While Melbourne Uni may not be a choice for some of our students, it was a great chance to see the scope and breadth of University and get a feel for what studying in Melbourne might be like.

We finished our day with a classic Italian dinner on Lygon Street where many students succumbed to the influence of Mr. Zeunert and his rave about Parmas, while others enjoyed Pizza and Pasta. A shoutout to Mr. Zeunert for safely driving us to and from Melbourne. A big day!
