CANTEEN NEWS
Hello everyone and welcome to 2014 at the canteen.
I’d like to thank all of those kind volunteers for returning forms to me saying they can help in the canteen. I will be contacting you all shortly with a view to organising a roster. Until then however, I would dearly love a bit of help with sales at recess (11-11.30am) and lunch (1-1.30pm). Our new slushie machine has created massive demand, and the queue seems to get longer each day! With the hot weather expected for the rest of this week, I really need at least one other person to help me serve the children at the window so they don’t have to stand in line for so long. Contact me on 0403 664 999 if you can help with one of these times for this week.
As mentioned above we now have slushies! The company providing our slushies is icm8, a local firm, and they are the only slushie mixture to be approved by the Victorian School Canteen Association. The slushies are 99% fruit juice, with no artificial flavours or colours. A great treat to keep cool on a hot day.
Finally, a few canteen requests for the year:
1. We would prefer that you buy the paper bags for lunch orders from the school. The ones we sell are larger and stronger than most bought in a shop, which, from experience, often split as you try to put food into them as they are simply not big enough. Bags are available at 20 for $2.00 or 50 for $4.00. Alternatively you can put the order in an envelope, and enclose an extra 10 cents for a bag.
2. Slushies and liquorice cannot be ordered on lunch orders. These are 'occasional' treats, which we may or may not have stock of at times, so we prefer the children to buy them from the window.
3. Please remember to place your order in a clean UNUSED bag, and clearly write your name, class and order in the centre of the bag. We often waste time looking for tiny writing at the very top of the bag, or 'invisible' writing from fancy pens!
Change will be given taped to the bag – try to place correct money, or close to it in the bag.
If paying for more than one child, please mark the bag with who it pays for, and mark bags without money as 'PAID in xxx’s bag'.
Large amounts of cash should not be given; give your child only enough money for them to spend for the day to avoid losses, or children being asked to 'lend'money to their friends.
4. Remember to try one of our new delicious salads on the next hot day, light and nutritious. Finally, please check that you are using the current menu/pricelist – attached to this newsletter (front page) or on the website.
See you all soon hopefully,
Amanda Beet
