The Lil & Jim Greenhill Sports Award
The Lil and Jim Greenhill Sports Award is presented to the primary student who has achieved the highest level of sporting achievement throughout the year in any sport. The achievement does not have to be school related. Students are nominated for selection throughout the year.
The 2019 Lil and Jim Greenhill Sports Award has been won by:-
Hunter Adams
Hunter has had a successful year representing Edenhope College in a variety of sports and at Zone, District and Regional levels. She competed in the District Level Golf at Horsham, Regional Swimming at Horsham, Regional cross- country at Ballarat, District Athletics at Horsham and the School Hockey team.
Hunter also had a successful year in local sporting clubs after school hours
After working on her hockey for four years, Hunter’s hard work has paid off this season. She was selected as a member of the Under 13 girls Upper South-east Zone hockey team, that joins the best hockey players from the district and competes in Adelaide against teams from all around South Australia. Hunter was awarded Best and Fairest Under 13 Girl at the Naracoorte and District Hockey Association vote count. She then went on to take out the Brolgas Under 13 girl Best and Fairest as well. To finish her season, Hunter was a part of two premiership teams, both the Under 13’s and the Intermediates (under 16’s).
Congratulations Hunter on winning the Lil and Jim Greenhill Junior Sports award and wish you success in your future sporting endeavours.
The Johnny Mullagh Sports Award
This is awarded to the student who has achieved the highest level of sporting achievement throughout the year in any sport. The achievement does not have to be school related and is open to students of all ages.
The 2019 Johnny Mullagh Sports Award has been won by:-
Brock Summerhayes
Brock has had a very successful year in all sporting fields, achieving many personal best performances and representing the College on numerous occasions, as well as in local sporting clubs.
He started the year off by winning the Edenhope College School Athletics Sports for the 13-year-old boys, becoming the age group Champion, and breaking four records in the 200m in the time of 28.94 seconds; the High jump with a jump of 1.66m; Triple Jump with a jump of 9.87m and Javelin with a throw of 31.10m.
Brock then participated in the Zone interschool Sports (Little Dessert) in Nhill, and came 1st in High jump, Shotput and Triple Jump breaking the record by 1 cm. He then went onto the Regional finals (Ballarat Greater Western School Sports), where he won the High Jump with a height of 165cm and came 2nd in Shotput. Brock then went on to compete in the Victorian State championships in Melbourne coming 2nd in High Jump.
Brock participated in the Year 7/8 Boys football team in Horsham where they placed 3rd, winning two games and losing one. He also participated in the Year 9/10 Boys football in Horsham playing with an older age group and receiving best on ground for the Edenhope.
Outside of school, Brock played a season of basketball for Naracoorte Kings Basketball Association winning the summer season’s runners-up Most Valuable Player (MVP).
At the Penola Eagles Junior Presentation, Brock was awarded the ‘Encouragement Award, for the U14s team, and won the leading goal kicker. Brock also came Runners-up leading goal kicker in the Under 17s football side.
Brock also participated in the Interleague and represented in the KNTFL team in Kingston.
Brocks’ success in local football earnt him recognition and a nomination to go to Adelaide and play in the U15s Glenelg squad, where he spent 5 days training and playing games at different clubs. As a result of this, Brock has been selected into 3 different academy’s - the Glenelg Country Squad, the Upper South East academy and the Adelaide Crows Elite academy, where he will be given the opportunity to train and develop his skills.
