Community Commendation

I was pleased to receive on behalf of the school community this commendation for the community response in managing a medical emergency earlier in the year. As well as the most important of outcomes, the health of one of our parents, there has been a significant amount of positive feedback resulting from the fast, collaborative efforts of so many people.

So, on behalf of the community - thank you and well done to all those who played a part.

School Council

School Council met last on Tuesday September 11. As usual, we enjoyed some valuable discussion about a range of issues around the school.

Uniform

Parents will be particularly interested in upcoming changes to how uniform items will be ordered and purchased. These changes are anticipated to take effect in 2019 and are, we hope, going to prove more convenient for families. Details will be communicated when the arrangements have been finalised next term - in the meantime, uniform shop will continue to operate as usual.

Parent Complaints

The Education Subcommittee have been collaborating this year on drafting a new Parent Complaints Policy. This policy outlines both how parents might approach expressing a concern or complaint, as well as what you might expect upon doing so.

Read the updated policy here and in Compass.

OSHC

Recently we have been investigating options for providing a holiday program that is hosted at the school and to increase our maximum numbers for before and after school care. Keep an eye on the newsletter next term to see how we progress in these areas.

Support local projects

Our friends at Warranwood Primary School have asked us to support their efforts to upgrade their facilities by simply voting online. The website pickmyproject.vic.gov.au encourages community members to show their support for local initiatives in order to prioritise spending. Have a look and take the time to help out a range of local community organisations.

Chess Club

Feedback from our first term of the new chess club with Kids Unlimited has been very positive. I understand there has been some confusion with enrolments and payment but the following 'Welcome Pack' has been specially designed to try and answer all parent questions and walk you through the registration process. I think it's particularly important to note that the payment model for Kids Unlimited is such that parents pay for 8 lessons but in terms that are longer (terms are an average of 10 weeks long), extra lessons are provided at no extra cost.

Chess runs on Wednesdays at 1.40pm in the 3C classroom.
