Primary School News

From Head of Primary, Wayne Revitt
Dear John Wollaston Community
This is a wonderful time in our School, with so many events celebrating the end of year and the many different rites of passage for our students. The Year 6 Valedictory and Exhibition on Monday evening was excellent. Our students were confident, articulate and knowledgable about their individual topics. This year the ELC Nativity started with a special performance by Generation Joy the combined Amana Living and John Wollaston Anglican Community School Choir. Their performance was amazing and a great example of the true Christmas Spirit. The ELC Nativity, Baubles, was outstanding and credit should go to our dedicated staff.
I have loved my time at John Wollaston. Your children are all truly delightful and it has been wonderful watching them grow over the years. There is a great culture at John Wollaston, thanks to all the staff and strong leadership of Ms Ford.
I wish you all the best for the future and a safe and Merry Christmas. Thank you for your support over the years. I know that Tracey Rogers will be a warm, engaging and dynamic leader. She has a passion for education and is very much looking forward to meeting you all. I know you will all make her feel welcome in the Primary School in 2020.
Take care.

Stephanie Alexander Kitchen Garden Program
The Year 3s have been growing carrots this term as part of the Stephanie Alexander Kitchen Garden Program. This week they harvested their 'reindeer food' and enjoyed munching on them throughout the day. With so many carrots left over, Liam Anderson took some home to make carrot cupcakes for his classmates to enjoy.
We have had a wonderful year planting, growing, harvesting and eating the produce from our gardens and we look forward to continuing and ‘growing' this program next year!
After School Golf Club Program
Written by Mason Burr, Year 5
I’m Mason and I have taken part in our school’s after-school Golf Club over the past two years. It's been a great opportunity to introduce me to the game of golf and to spend time with other kids. During the golfing sessions we have become better at everyday skills such as our hand-eye coordination, core strength and accuracy. These skills help us to understand the game. We have also converted the oval to play a few modified games and have learnt the rules of golf. We even received a lollipop for taking part in a skills challenge. I highly recommend this game for people that enjoy sport and competition.
I've been lucky enough to take this sport one step further by joining the Gosnells Golf Club. Here I play on a ‘proper’ course and have travelled all over the State playing in competitions. I have been to Kalgoorlie, wining a competition there and I have had success in the Primary Schools Golf Competition too!
Give Golf a try
If you think that your child would be interested in taking their game further, or simply would like to give golf a go, then Gosnells Golf Club is holding some free 'come-and-try' sessions over the next few Sundays. Session will be held in the late afternoon. If you are interested, please contact the PGA coaching professional, Jeremy Gilbert on 9455 1983 (select option to connect to the pro-shop) for further information.
