Senior School

Place Value

As we know, place value is vital to the understanding of mathematics.  Because of this, the senior school students have been working with decimal number place value.

Students have been working on a range of different collaborative and independent activities in maths where they have been able to break down and decode a variety of questions to solidify their understanding of decimal numbers.

The Gold Rush

Our inquiry unit this term focuses on the Victorian gold rush of the 1850's, tying in nicely with our camp to Sovereign Hill.  Students this week have begun their pre-work for camp, where they have to write a letter to the costumed school we are attending on camp as if they are a child in this era explaining why they should be allowed to attend school.

We have been investigating the different countries in which people came from to look for gold, as well as how and why all of these people came to Victoria.
