Mindfulness

Mindfulness is the practice of detaching yourself from the craziness of the outside world and your own racing thoughts by honing in on the calm center that is always inside you. Studies have found that mindfulness reduces anxiety, even in people who haven't done the practice for very long. Kids and adults who do mindfulness activities actually learn better.

There are many ways to create mindfulness within your family.

1. Take time to sit and relax

2. Listen to music

3. Colour in

4. Go for a walk

5. Sit in the backyard and listen to the sounds around you

There are also apps that can be used to relax and to assist with sleeping. Smiling minds is an app we are beginning to use at school that assists in students relaxing and focusing better on their listening skills and their learning.
