Principal's Message to the School Community

Dear KPS Community

It is with much happiness that I provide you with some lighter and brighter news compared to my previous recent news feeds.

During the school holiday break, the school had installed 29 Daikin air conditioning units throughout the entire school.  These were installed by Jason and his crew from Sole Refrigeration & Air Conditioning in Kyneton.  It was a pleasure to work with such a professional and reliable local company.

The school has been working towards this outcome for a number of years in tandem with expanding our solar panel footprint.  Thank you to all current and past School Council members and community members that assisted with this project.

School Council Report

Hi all

The school council met during the last week of Term 3. There wasn’t a great deal to report to the school community beyond what was reported in my previous report.

Ground & Facilities

The working bee remains on hold while we await easing of COVID-19 restrictions, which have impacted our ability to volunteer on school grounds.

Air conditioning was installed throughout the school during the term 3 holidays. The school has been working towards this project for several years, so it’s great to see it finally come to fruition. Bring on the warmer weather!!

Communications

The communications survey closed late in Term 3, and we received approximately a 30% response rate. Thanks to all who participated and provided some important and constructive feedback. Once restrictions allow, the school council will run a face-to-face focus group when possible. If you are interested in joining the focus group, please email me (Emily.Dellios@education.vic.gov.au) or Larry Price (Larry.Price@education.vic.gov.au), if you haven’t already done so.

Sustainability

The sustainability committee continues to work on the Resource Smart School program, and is currently working towards achievement of the first star.

ELC Update

The ELC is pressing ahead, and is on track for opening in 2022, albeit a little slower than anticipated due to the extremely wet weather we have had recently. Any questions about the ELC can be directed to the Victorian School Building Authority.

Other

You may have heard in the press that there are going to be changes to the Parent Payment Policy in all Government schools. This will affect the way the school receives funding for school camps, and other activities outside of the classroom. It will also impact the way we order our school booklist items. Stay tuned for important information from the school about how the changes will impact families and what actions families may need to take in preparation for 2022.

That’s it from me. I hope everyone is doing well and managing the balance between home learning, on-site learning and all other COVID and non-COVID related challenges.

Cheers Emily
