Welcome Back!

Term 4 2022

Welcome Back to Term 4!

I hope you have all managed to have a break away from work and your screens (and press conferences) over the last two weeks. Congratulations to all of our Demons fans and commiserations to our Doggies fans. We have tried not to bombard staff with messages and guidelines to ensure you had a break. However, this has caused some "light" weekend reading for you all. The Termly Bulletin has now been published in iNewsletter where we create the Jackson School Newsletter. Below is a summary of what is included but I encourage you to dip in and out of the detail when you have the time. You can also access the Termly Bulletin as a tile on The Portal.

COVID-19 Update

The press conferences and information from the Victorian Government over the holidays has been extensive. The School Operations Guide (2nd October) has now been published. Click on the link to view online (login first or refresh). Alternatively you can download below:

The summary of key operational requirements on Page 9 is a useful snapshot. There is also a summary of highlights and reminders on the COVID-19: Ops Guide Page.

Further to my teams message to you in the holidays, the regional panel has determined in line with public health advice to reduce the number of students and staff onsite, all schools should follow the staged return to onsite learning without variation. The state-wide plan, based upon the advice of the Victorian Chief Health Officer, outlines which year levels (not classes) return by which date. This will, however, depend on final advice from health authorities closer to each stage (70% and 80% Fully Vaccinated).

Please note that for Year 7/8, Year 9/10 and Year 11/12 classes, students will not return on the same day as the rest of their class. Remote learning will continue to be offered through our online platforms until we fully return to school at the end of Week 5 when students are not required to be onsite as part of the staged return.

We will talk through the staged return to school roadmap at our Staff Meeting on Monday at 3pm instead of Tuesday afternoon. Because of this staff meeting we will not have a briefing on Tuesday morning this week.

For the first 2 weeks of Term 4 our onsite program will operate similar to Term 3 with the additional of our VCAL staff. For the updated Onsite Plan & Staged Return to School, please click here: https://eduvic.sharepoint.com/:b:/r/sites/EDUVIC-Staffroom4979/FileDrive/Home%20Learning/Lockdown%206.0/Onsite%20Learning%20Program%20Information%20-%20T4%20Weeks%201-5.pdf?csf=1&web=1&e=BxMgBT

As I communicated to you last week, the Victorian Chief Health Officer has determined that COVID-19 vaccinations will be required for staff who work in schools.

All staff are required to:

  • have a first dose of the vaccine by 18th October 2021 or be able to produce evidence of a vaccination booking within that week; and
  • be fully vaccinated by 29th November 2021 unless a medical exemption applies and will be required to show evidence of their vaccination status.

Staffing & HR

Demi has decided to take leave in Term 4 to pursue her private practice as a Speech Pathologist. I wish you all the very best with your new venture and we hope to see you soon. Jaclyn will now join our Tutor Learning Initiative (TLI) PLT 5 days a week to support with social skills interventions. Sue F will also continue in TLI but support our Year 12s to meet their VCAL outcomes before the end of the year.

10 Teacher positions and 12 ESS job openings have been posted to Recruitment Online (ROL) to support our workforce for 2022. To view further information about the job openings and or to apply for any position, please visit either Recruitment Online or click on the careers button in eduPay and search for the job opening number. Please refer to this link for further information about applying for positions in eduPay/ROL. Applications close on Sunday 3rd October 2022 and potential applicants must address the key selection criteria and include a cover letter, resume/cv  and three referees. We encourage all potential applicants to apply for all posted job openings rather than only applying for just a single position. Further leadership opportunities and other out of class expressions of interests will be posted soon.

Jackson Learner

To support our knowledge of our students, information sharing and transition, documentation of SSGs and for us to document ongoing levels of adjustment we provide to our students, we have revised the Jackson Learner Profile in Xuno. During Term 3, the leadership team have been conducting Tier 3 SSGs for our most vulnerable students and piloting the use of this revised Jackson Learner Profile. This term staff will work through updating these profiles in their Jackson Learner periods as a PLT to support and strengthen transition through Jackson.

To also support with our knowledge and understanding of our Jackson Learners, we have developed a Jackson Learner Dashboard. This can be used by staff to view a snapshot of contextual groups of learners (CGOLS) in their class, year level, cohort or whole school. Staff can also filter my individual students. Access to the Jackson Learner Dashboard is also be available as a tile on The Portal.

PBIS Update

This year, the Principal and Leadership Teams have been evaluating our school-wide PBIS systems since they were launched in 2014. For more information on the updates to the Behaviour Flowchart and Office Referral Forms in Xuno please click on the PBIS Page. Here you can also find the link to the new PBIS Dashboard as well as a tile on The Portal.

Asset Management Plan

We are now working with our architects on the internal design for our Asset Management Plan (AMP) redevelopment project. For more information on the planned build, including a vision board of what we have presented to the architects as inspiration, click on the Asset Management Plan Page. Once the architects come up with a concept we will share these with staff for consultation.

Four new Springfree Trampolines will be delivered and installed on Monday 11th October. Thank you to the staff who have purchased the older ones for their own use. If any family has contacted teachers to inform us that they would not like their child to use the trampolines can you please let me know so we can add this to the Jackson Learner Dashboard with other permissions.

Staff Wellbeing & OHS

On the Staff Wellbeing & OHS Page there are links to the EAP and the LifeWorks Health and Wellbeing Online Platform which is an online library of informative articles and interactive resources to improve employee health and wellbeing. There is also OHS information and guidance for staff while working from home.

AIP Monitoring

Lastly, in preparation for our AIP 2022 monitoring, can staff please provide feedback on our progress as a school by completing the following form: https://forms.office.com/r/aW0ipnTiqc on Monday 4th October. The leadership team will use this to inform 2022 AIP development in Term 4. Thank you in advance for your feedback.

I hope you have a good weekend before we return to another unusual term. The end is now in sight and some of us may even be able to travel internationally by the time we reach the summer holidays, or at least Easter!

Stay safe and see you (virtually) on Monday.

Anthony
