Love your body week

As a part of Health and PE Week (13 to 17 September), MGSC held it’s very own ‘Love Your Body Week’! This week was organised by the Health and PE domain and was a great success that students and staff enjoyed.

LYB week promotes body acceptance and diversity and encourages people to engage in behaviours that are positive and respectful to themselves, their body and also to others. It encourages us to celebrate who you are and what our bodies can do, and to celebrate strengths, passions, cultural diversity and more!

Whilst unfortunately we could not physically attend school due to online home learning, a range of fun and engaging activities took place over the course of the week. These included:

Monday a mindfulness session with Amy Dunstan

Tuesday a chat with Olympian Jemima Montag

Wednesday was a workout with school sport leaders

Thursday Affirmation Jar creation

Friday isan individuality dress up and selfie! Visuals to come

These health and PE activities were not only lots of fun and engaging  for students across all year levels to participate in, there were also house points up for grabs throughout the week. For each event that you attended there were 40 house points up for grabs, going towards the end of year house shield!

We loved seeing the MGSC house spirit and the enthusiasm students showed despite being at home, and their love for sport and raising house points.

It was lovely seeing students and our classmates getting involved bringing the MGSC community together  and having fun after what has been a challenging term of online learning! The PE leaders showed amazing leadership running the exercises and pumping the excitement levels making it a more enjoyable experience for everyone.

Also, keep an eye out next term for some more fun activities that should be going on if we can return to MGSC such as the 2021 Pride Cup and a Colour Run!

A big thank you to our Health and PE teachers, Ms Justine Bowers and Ms Ilana Parker for organising and helping run this week! As well as our health and PE leaders who helped make this happen, and got the MGSC community involved in a great week!
