Year 11: rising to the challenge

Preparing for examinations | Insight into University

Preparing for examinations

Our Year 11 students studying a Unit 3/4 subject, have returned onsite to school and are busy preparing for their upcoming final examinations. In order to support them to prepare for these examinations and their general Year 11 examinations, we are inviting some guest presenters to their wellbeing sessions.

  • This week students will receive important information regarding how they can manage stress and their general wellbeing in the time leading up to examinations. This will be presented by our School Psychologists Melanie McInneny and Judy McKay.
  • Over the following two weeks, Karen Whelan, our Deputy Principal Staff and Operations and very experienced VCE Psychology teacher, will share some study skills and memory retention strategies with our students.

Insight into university

A focus of our wellbeing program this term will be looking at tertiary options for our students. This will culminate in our Tertiary Conference in December. Deakin University recently presented to our Year 11 students. They offered some great insight into the support that is available for students when they attend university. They also had current students from the study areas of Environmental Science, Nutrition, Biomedical Science and Psychology who provided a great insight into their courses, university study and their experience transitioning from school to university. It was a really informative presentation and students had the opportunity to ask lots of questions.

In two weeks’ time, students will take part in a presentation from Monash University. They will also present on their course offerings and give advice on how students can make decisions about their future.
