Student enrichment and support

Karen Ryan, Director of Student Enrichment and Support

The Student Enrichment and Support Department has been working closely with students, classroom teachers, Coordinators, Year Level Coordinators and parents to review and update IEPs, support students during remote teaching and learning and help prepare students for their upcoming exams.

We have collaborated with the Maths Department on the Term 4 program for the Junior School Maths Enrichment program and commenced work on the challenge and enrichment opportunities that will be offered to students in 2022. Information on these challenge and enrichment opportunities will be communicated in Term 1, 2022 and, as new opportunities arise, they will be communicated with students and families via Shelly and this newsletter as they are advertised.

Dyslexia Awareness Month

October is Dyslexia Awareness Month and I encourage students, parents and teachers to access the free festival of webinars offered by experts in Dyslexia and neurodiversity from Australia and the UK. I have provided information on the festival, along with the opportunity to undertake a 30-day, no obligation, free trial of the C-Pen Reader for anyone interested in trialing this assistive technology to assist people with Dyslexia to better access text. This is a wonderful opportunity to learn more about Dyslexia, neurodiversity, the challenges experienced by students who struggle to read, assistive technologies and supporting the mental health and wellbeing of neurodiverse young people.
